Chevy Axels and Such
#1
Met this guy last night at a little get together who had the most beautiful p/u I've seen round these parts. 86 SASed relocate rear ~1' and front ~6", tubular flatbed, lockers front and rear, 4.88s I believe, and alot more that I caint really remember (had killed half a big bottle of crown by that time). Got to talkin and I told him how I really wanted to sas and he said he had some 1/2 and 3/4 ton chev front and rears all with either arb or detroit lockers, and how you can get gears for em extremely cheap. Supposedly they bolt right up to the tcase with an adapter from advanced adapters, little modification to the leaf perches, and steering is very simple.
Aint ever heard of swappin chev axels in, or the price after its all said and done compared to findin a yoter axel and all that goes along with it... Thoughts, opinions, and/or info yall?

Yep Dana 60 would be the only real upgrade from the toy axles. But full width axles look way cooler.
I think the only problem you'd run into would be where the spring perches are. If it ends up sitting parialy on the pumpkin you might have an issue making a perch. But Ive never measured the 2.
I guess you might also have to do some brake upgrades to run the bigger brakes.

its locked, someone welded the spider gears up.
now i just need a front to match.
Swampthing, i say go for it and give er hell. i would go with the 3/4 ton axles, sure its not the BEST bestup but thats now what your lookin for here right? best setup for the money(very little).
you can leave the axles full width too and be even more chevy axle sexy

What of that truck was toyota...the body?
If your looking for cheap get a waggy front d44. i can find them for 100 here in colorado. only thing really stronger than a yoter axle is one ton stuff. Still you can get longs and alloy rear shafts and run with the big boys.
