Actually, 11" is just about what I'm after. I'm not in it for departure angles, rather for the wheelbase increase per se. I really wish I had a good pic of a 1st-gen longbed frame to look at. Looking at trucks with a bed on them, I'd guess there's just about a foot left between the end of the frame and the rear shackles. Well, if it's a little too much, there are 57" Chevy springs, I hear? One worry from the armchair-engineers' perspective is that it'd increase beam loading on the frame... would that be an actual problem in the real world?

 

THe fords are 57, and mount a little differently than the chevys. I think you still move the front forward, but the rear comes in 4. So they might be a better option for you.

You shouldn't have to move the rear mount. I didn't. Just the front. About 6" ish.

I've been running double shackles with my 63s for years! Ive never had an issue with it on the road or off for that matter... I drive 200 miles each way when I go wheelin at 70 mph towing a trailer.. No problems

do you run a toyota to chevy shackle or an aftermarket double shackle?

 

I'll get pics posted once I'm to a computer.. It's the stock chevy shackle that lays flat against the frame then an aftermarket shackle that goes to the spring

 

This was when I first sased it.. I've since added reinforcements on the long shacked but you get the idea

 

what type of mount did you use.

 

Okay so i got these springs home not even thinking about really checking them and there def front springs off a halfton chevy...
has anybody ever put these on the rear of a toyota?? They have great arch to them so i wanna try and use them still. but the center pin is offset a little. I think i might could even use the stock mounts front and rear with these springs but it would work better if i moved the front mount forward about 4in or so. Any input??

 

Does that rear shackle ever give you any wheel hope or anything?
Looks like that would add quit a bit of flex.

 

The 63's have an offset center pin also, that's why you move the front and rear hangers different amounts. How long are the springs?
If they're longer than your current leafs, then you could try em.

Weird its call'n the chev springs 64''
The spring's I picked up a few years ago measure 63''. I was told they were chev springs.
Wonder if theres a difference. Could be dodge springs i guess.

 

I've heard people call them 63's, 64's, 62's, they're all the same.

 

How far can you move the axle back without extending your driveshaft? like how far can the stock toyota driveshaft sli[ back on the yoke and still work properly? if any

 

Maybe an inch or so. Not a lot of slip yoke travel in the stock shaft. And the farther it pulls apart, the less solid the fit so more likely to vibrate. Easy enough for a shop to extend it or you can bolt in a spacer for a few inches:
