Anyone seen those hella's at walmart, theyre like 30$ and they say "Hella 500" on the covers.. Dunno if their off brand or what the deal is, thought about getting two sets.. Are the driving or flood? I want flood pattern..OH, and does anyone have a good writeup on installing an AUX fuse block, and wiring AUX lights? Couldn't find much on here..

 

Don't bother. Get the real thing. Wiring lights is extremly easy once you have done it once... or thrice

 

Yeah i have been seeing the hella 500s at walmart latley (I unload the trucks there), but the walmart here i think they are $50, but that was a while back. I think they are driving lights, but i could be wrong.

 

Yeah but they are actual HELLA brand lights, not knockoffs, they just look different..

Here is a diagram for wiring aux lights. If using an aux fuse box you would connect the red(power) to the fuse box, and you wouldnt need the inline fuses.

 

Thanks Jay, Dude I totally hate wiring.... Oh well, Hey on that rollbar of yours where did you run your wiring? Like, into the cab and stuff.. Did you just tape the wiring to the outside of the lightbar? I just got a lightbar and was wondering, cause I sanded it down, and its in primer, just gotta put it back together and paint it tomorrow, but theres no way to run wires through it..

 

I hear you brother. The first time I tried to wire my aux lights, I HATED IT! I didnt have the right tools and it just made everything harder.
Once you get into the rythem its easy. Trust me Make sure you use wiring loom!

I tried to run the wires through the bar, but I had NO way of getting them through. I got impatient and just taped them to the underside of the roll bar. Pretty hard to notice, but I know its there

As for the rest of the routing, I ran it through the bed (drilled a hole), along the frame rail, up into the engine bay, over the brake booster and into the cab through an exsiting rubber grommet (beside the clutch fluid resoviour).

Once I get a big enough itch I will route them through the bar itself.


Did I mention my local autoparts stores want over 149.99 for a set of hella's I paid 1/3 that on an online store in the us...

i got the hella 500's had the choice between the ff's too but didn't know the difference so i didn't get them .

Anyway, the 500's are like another set of high beams, they are good lights imo!
