I just about killed my 88 while taking an exit off of the interstate!! My power steering belt self destructed which then got sucked into the other belts! The crossover type steering on these trucks is a BEAR to steer without the pump running and when your not ready for it to give out it can cause some pucker factor! Im a little irritated, some of you may remember my head gasket / dealership issues, they had the belts all off and its obvious they were cracked and they re used them anyway! On that note, I think the head gasket is going again, Im using anti-freeze again and I think Im hearing a miss.... I had to feed it .75 of a gallon of antifreeze and its not leaking, anywhere that I can see... Anyway back to my first thought, check your belts! I just bought a set of 3 from Car Quest, the Gates Green belts seem to be the best for the $$ IMOH, compared to Autozone crap anyway.... I guess I cant really complain too much, my alternator belt didnt shred all the way so I was able to get it home without a tow but it still scared the crap out of me! My Gates belts have been on there since 03 or so.....
