OK all I do hope the shop get this thig back together. It is in the shop for a valve job. I do belive that it will be getting a new HEAD GASKET right. It will also be getting a new timing chain, new water pump, all new hoses, etc. I do hope this thing runs like new when I get it bach. I paid 4k for the rig. The job that is getting done on it is going to be about 2k. The rig is mint in and out, and I do mean mint. Give me some feed back on this. looking forward to your info. Check out the pics.

If you got it tore down that far why not just rebuild it.. money and time issues like everyone else I'm guessing.. Only one more week till I get to park my 4-runner and start racking up miles on the new Taco. I hope my runner doesnt get too jealous..

Yuppers you will be getting new headgaskets....and a pandora's box has now been opened. To avoid all kinds of issues in the future you need to do several things.

1. DO NOT REUSE the head bolts!!!! (I cannot stress this enough!) The OEM headbolts are TTY meaning they are good one time only. Either get brand new ones from the dealer or go http://www.engnbldr.com/ and buy his EPN grade 10.9 headbolts. Much much better than stock. If you reuse the oem ones you will have HG issues later on.

2. use GOOD headgaskets, ie the rockwell gaskets none of that felpro garbage. Again to prevent future HG issues...

3. Replace your knock sensor and knock sensor wires. Otherwise your engine will have no power and youll have a constant CEL and a code 52 knock sensor fault.

These are known issues with this engine, ignoring them could prove disasterious to ones wallet and patience...

ps welcome to yotatech!

pps im working on my own top end rebuild...
