Charge light comes on when putting in reverse

Hey guys, got kind of a weird problem here. My turn signals didn't work so I checked the fuse and my HAZ-HORN fuse was blown. So I replaced the fuse and the turn signals worked for a couple minutes but then I started having problems again where the charge light would come on at every blink. I didn't want to get myself stranded so I just pulled the fuse.

Now, for some reason, every time I put the car in reverse, the charge light comes on for a second, the lights dim, charge light goes off, then everything is fine. What could this be?!?

From: Columbia River Gorge, Oregon...east side
A chafed wire someplace? A bad ground? Wierd stuff is known to happen with trailer wiring kits too.

Yep pull the rear tail light assembly and inspect the wires on both sides of the wire grommet where it passes thru the sheet metal. And inspect your tailer harness, You might have one tucked up under the frame and not know it so don't just assume it's not there.

If you can't find anything visually in the wires use a meter and test for shorts to ground. If you still don't find anything inspect all the bulbs carefully, in some cases the wire that holds the filament will short out with the other and it's then a direct short to ground.

But the only thing that changed was putting in the HAZ fuse. The weird thing is that now it does it even with the fuse removed

Well I just disconnected the reverse switch from the trans for now until I can figure out this issue. I really don't need reverse lights, but working turn signals would be awesome.

Sounds like it's getting worse and you need to get back there and fix it before you wind up having to replace all the wires instead of fixing a few shorts.

You could also inspect the relays and wiring in the dirvers side kick panel. and inspect the integration relay while you're in there.

Most/All of that is covered in the manual.

Feel free to post up questions to clarify anything you're having problems understanding or performing.

If you don't have a test meter they're less than 5$ at the local harborfreight. Even walmart has cheapones alot of times.
