CEL after 200miles on a new long-block
As the title says, after putting 200 hundred miles on a new long-block, the check engine light came on.
Is there a way to get the codes without a scanner?ei key dance or such?
As I was putting on the exhaust manifold during the install, I sheared the top off of the TVV and I am waiting on the part to replace it.
At first, I did not connect the 2 vaccuum hoses on it, just dangling. Then the CEL came on. So I didn't worry too much. Then I released the CEL and plugged the vaccuum.
20 miles later, CEL is back on. I am hoping/praying/thinking this going to be the problem.
Do I have to have a OBD scanner to get the codes so that I can fix the problem or is there another way?

Search diagnostic codes 22re or something similar. Ya jumper two points under the hood, and watch your CEL spell it out in morse code. Kind of. Have a haynes/chiltons handy, it'll spell it out for ya too.

What year is your vehicle? The year is a variable for the codes, but once you find that out, take a jumper wire and jump terminals E1 and TE1 and turn the key on and count how many times the CEL flashes and refer to a manual for code
