isnt the 86 celica engine the 22re? if you want power, get the engine out of a supra V6/Straight6 turbo.

yeah, i'm pretty sure the 6 celicas used either 22r's, or 22re's

Motor mounts will be different so you will have to swap them. I know several folks who have put in a Celica 22R to replace theirs that was dead in the 4Runner. Personally I wouldnt have a carbed engine.

ANY '85 - '95 22R/RE engine (including head and cam) will interchange.

Theres a couple people who have put 7MGE's in their 4runners (86.5-98 supra 3.0L I6) and one guy i know of who put in a 2JZ-GTE (MKIV surpa) The 7M swap isnt too hard supposedly but then again what engine swap can you honestly consider easy?

The supra engine is not a direct swap in. It's not as bad as a chevy v8 or ford v8 swap, but there is a ton of work and prep that has to be done. Do your homework...

Cmon guys, lots of incorrect info here.

let me set the record straight.

The 86 celica is FWD, not RWD. It uses the 2S-FE engine found in the camrys. Its a one year only engine for the celica, they switched to the 3S-FE in 87.

the last year for the 22RE in the celicas was 1985. This engine CAN be used, but you will have to swap motor mounts, oil pan, wiring, injectors, etc.

Supras do not have a V6, they are an inline 6. Depending on the production date and body style of the 86, it will have the 2.8L 5MGE, or thee 3.0L 7MGE.
