i have a 22re i built the motor and put a bigger cam in it and now when it starts it will not hold a idle i dont have a chip or nothing on it and it still has the stock injectors sometimes after driving it for a while it will stay idlen but most of the times it wants to cut off ??????????

are you 100% confident with your install, and getting the teeth on the sprockets aligned correctly with the timing chain?



I'm willing to bet you just need to adjust your timing; most aftermarket cams call to do so

 

Sounds to me like the timing is off better make sure you did not bump it one way or the other on the cam gear and timing chain

 

uh...

depending on the cam, you may be experiencing lower vacuum, which in turn will result in overall less draw through the VAFM and consequentially, less fuel...

I bet if you do a little bit of searching you'll find out that some of the more radical cams require modding the VAFM a click or two to the rich side....
but then again, I don't have a high-overlap or duration cam so I can't say so with absolute certainty but I'm sure I read it somewhere.

My old 22R-E (It was an early model with EFI, but that shouldn't matter) with TRD stage 2 cam needed the timing advanced to 15* to idle properly, and even then it still had a miss at idle.

Made a nice improvement in the midrange though!

 

I've got a Comp Cam 252s- these cams were designed for the 22R and aren't updated to EFI spec's- I called CC before I bought and it was either the smallest of the line or a custom lobe separation. For a small cam it works good. What these other guys mean with the chain is- with the timing indicator at '0' the divit on the cam gear should be straight up at TDC- and the bright link is to be on it. I advanced my timing 4 deg to 9deg and it works- keepin mind CC grinds their cams 4 deg advanced anyway. So my guess is your way low on idle vacume. I learned to be very careful with EFI cams on my Chevy- that is until you throw a aftermarket ecm at the truck.

 

the specs said that the cam would work with efi and i got vavle springs too how can i check the vacume????
