Sight unseen, I wouldn't pay anything over $2k, but it may be a peach, and worth $4000+. Have you driven it or gotten a chance to go over it with a fine-toothed comb?

I guess the big issues are rust and drive-ability. I bought my '94 with 156,000 miles on it, original everything and no rust for $4500 a couple years ago and I feel like I got a screaming deal. Good luck.

I wouldn't do it. My limit for a new commuter car is 3k. I can find a cheap Mazda or something with 120k miles really clean and everything for about that. Tell him good luck selling it and move on.

just say no to a 3slow. I think that you should get one with a 22re and save up for a 3.4 swap

I would co with the 22re also. I test drove a 4runner with a 3.0 in it and I was afraid to pull out in traffic. Kind of a dog. 3.4 is a stronger motor. My opinion.
