burning rubber smell?
recently a few times i have gotten out of my truck after a small drive (mostly on the snow and pavement) to smell burning rubber, not a strong strong, but enough to smell it, coming from the rear driver side tire area, i checked the tire all over, not even warm anywhere, i havent gotten under the truck yet to see but i was thinking maybe the exhaust is touching one of the rubber hangers? i dont think its the tire so what else can it be? ill be getting under the truck when it gets warmer. any similar experiences?

New clutch doesn't smell like burning rubber. Smells like roasting brake pads (asbestos). Trust me. Just roasted 3 clutches on my dodge. 750hp/1010tq outta that cummins powerhouse with a heavy foot doing 3rd gear 4wd launches tends to do that!

I was going to post about this last week but figured no one else would have a similar problem.
I smell burning rubber from the right rear tire area.
I haven't seen anything obvious but it's been too cold and snowy to lie under the truck.

check and see if your ebrake is frozen.... if its only coming from the one side of trucks , specifically when it is cold out, it could be that the light is going out but the actual brake is not releasing fully couldnt it?

I don't think that's my problem. It smells like burning rubber not brake pad, and my brake drum is not hot.

mine either, and i dont have a spare tire, still havent gotten under to have a look yet, but drums arent hot, no spare tire, still think its a rubber mount or something, will post if/when i figure ito out

Maybe it's a Canadian thing
Seeing as the exhaust comes out on the opposite side (If you are calling the pass. side the right side) that's a tough call. IF v6 you might see if there is a hanger for the crossover somewhere on the right side. Otherwise, that's just strange
