Brighter headlights?

What do I need to do, to get slightly brighter headlights all around? Could I just get bulbs, or different headlights? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to the lights on our rigs. For instance could I go to something such as these: http://www.cap-it.com/Web-Product-06...bulbs-PIAA.jpg
or?
Would I need to upgrade anythign?

Also,I still want to retain low beam and high beams,a nd I'm not looking to make any major modifications or anything.

I've always had a great experience with Hella products. This is what I chose for my truck. The Hella Vision Plus is a direct fit for the 6054 sealed beams that we have stock. You have the flexibility to use various H4 bulbs in them as well. If you want to buy them and get the 60/55W standard bulbs (which is DOT so you're legal) this is the cheapest place I found http://www.adv4x4.com/heco.html. If you want to upgrade to a different bulb then this place will sell you the housings with the upgraded bulb so you don't have to buy both the standard and the upgrade http://www.rallylights.com/hella/200mm.asp.

I don't have any experience with other brands. Hella hasn't let me down with any of the vehicles I've owned outright . . . . except the STI that came stock with HID so I didn't need to upgrade.

4Crawler makes an upgraded wiring harness. Check out his website or search here and you'll find out more about it.

Hey naked! Try crappy tire. you can score a bosch rectangular kit from them for about $80.00 Cdn. You can use the H4s that come with it or upgrade to any of the higher out put types you can get at the speed shop... PIAAs or even some cheaper off brand types. The bosch housing has a "euro" light spread pattern. this means the light will tend to be lower on the left [so you don't blind folks] and higher on the right [so you can read speed limit signs etc.] They look like a stock lamp though so you can get by a casual road side inspection if you decide to run brighter lamps. Installation is a snap they go in just like a stock halogen except you have to install the lamp into the housing first. Don't touch the lamp with your fingures or it will explode when you turn it on. Standard kit for our trucks is 55/65W on my 87 I ran 80/100W but I could'nt get them last time I bought lamps.
Couple this upgrade with the wiring harness mod and you'd be laughin'
Cheers aviator

I can't say enough good things about the wiring harness and the light upgrade. I went overboard with the lights but I do love them : )

That eBay seller currently doesn't have any harnesses listed. Maybe you could email him and ask if he has any available.

I went with the 4crawler harness and upgraded my sealed beams to Rampage Products H4 kit with 55/60watt bulbs and its by far the best mod ive done to my truck. I dont know if i have DOT or Euro lights but they have a very sharp cutoff and no issues that some people state with the Hellas being off aim on high beam. I can get the headlight housings for $45/pr here at work if anybody is interested. Definitely go with a conversion kit, you will not be disappointed

To fully answer your question, install is very simple for the harness and lights and im by no means good with wiring. Its plug and play and for the lights i pulled off my front grill (only tabs holding it in) and you can get right to the screws that hold your stock lights in. Unplug the harness out back and pull them out and do the opposite for the new lights. easy as that

You could always go with the HID upgrade, check out this thread:https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f131/finished-my-h-i-d-retrofit-78186/

I have Slyvania Silverstars on my 4Runner now. They are much better than stock. The low beams seem wider and the high beams are quite a bit farther ahead. They're nice! Some people say they burn out faster, but we'll see. I've had them on for about 8 months now.

The 4crawler harness sounds really slick too. I may go that route in the future.

I wouldn't buy the silverstars...I had them for my Probe and they were garbage. They burned out really fast.

just wondering...where is everyone running the headlight harness wires between the two headlights? i havent installed the harness yet, but i have been scoping out some different ways to run the wires.

also, just to clarify, if have 9004 bulbs...can i just replace the bulbs, or i would i have to do some kind of lens conversion? i want to get some 55/100s but ive only seen stuff about the H4 conversion. thanks all.

On the 90 Toyota I have Sylvania cool blues, much better and much better than stock (and a little cheaper). I have them paired with a set of Hella FF500 driving lamps (my second high beam)

My 2KCIVIC Si I got a free set of SilverStars and I love them, but I am going to swap them out for some JDM yellow bulbs soon

My DD(daily dumpster) 92 Nissan sentra I have had the SilverStars for about 2 years now I liked them so much I shelled out the cheese to put some in my Hella FF475 driving lights. LOL The guys I work with say they are too bright when I get behind them.

Teh SilverStars are good bulbs they just seem to pricy to me.

on a side note I had a problem with the civic burning out the drivers side bulb (four times in four years) and it went away when I installed the SilverStars, it has been at least 1 1/2 years now.

That IS some cool ish...And what did that cost to do?? Just think you could burn up a 'pair' of 50.00 bulbs a year for 10 years for that much $$ HA Ha I want to try it!
