Any dealer.

About $825 (each; how many boosters did you want?)

^^ That is if Toyota didn't discontinue the brake booster. Sometimes the dealer websites show parts as available until you order the parts and get a call/ email back.

If the above part is too expensive or discontinued your only other options I have seen are used boosters from a salvage yard or re-manufactured boosters.

Good luck!

suggest looking at booster upgrade threads. there are some pretty easy direct swap outs for different models, ie, single to dual diaphragm

I got mine through the local aftermarket part store, no where near $800, I seem to remember it was a booster and master cylinder package for around $400. That was 3-4 years ago and it still works perfect. It may take me a while (days), but I'll see if I can find a receipt and let you know where I got it.

RockAuto has remans for $110-$150, and Master Cylinders for $30-$120. But the wyoming9 asked the right question; why do you want to replace it?

(cue Rad4runner's rant about replacing parts at random ...)

Crazy prices

Brake booster seems to be failing. Ordered from Rock Auto. Wrong part delivered. Too big
My mechanic sourced one for $350 ish. Yikes. Didn’t fit either.
Called dealer but part is discontinued and over $800 if available. This is ridiculous.
Going through advanced auto parts now.
Any ideas fellas?

City Racer sells brand new reproduction brake boosters, mostly for the Land Cruisers but has a few boosters for 1989-1995 trucks as well. They had them made to replicate the original Aisin brake boosters.

https://www.cityracerllc.com/collections/types?q=Brake

I don't know what vehicle you are working on, so they may not have the correct brake booster for your truck.

Anybody had luck with NAPA boosters? Website says PN 532071 ($143 after core refund) MAY fit my 1986 22RE.

I have intermittent issue where it feels like there is a "notch" that catches, then releases when I press the brakes (no problem stopping the truck). I tried with engine off and could not make it happen so I also suspect defective booster.

However ... LOL!

I want to inspect first before buying the part. I have not taken the system apart before so I'd like to ask if it is labor intensive (or messy?) - which would warrant having replacement part ready if I find it defective. OR is it pretty straightforward that I can simply put things back then order parts if needed?

Video of intermittent problem:

It definitely sounds like something is hanging up. Have you made sure the sound and cause of the hang-up is not in the pedal assembly inside the MoreFunner? The sound it makes in the video does sound like it's in a metal container (like a brake booster).

Does this happen every once in a while or can you make this happen predictably? I have to agree that the brake booster sounds suspect, being that it only "acts up" when the MoreFunner is running and vacuum is supplied.

I replaced my brake booster by removing the brake master cylinder, and the brake lines going to the master cylinder. This can be messy (keep brake fluid off of paint!) and you will need to bleed the brake master cylinder and the rest of the brakes when done.

Some people (and depending on the vehicle) just unbolt the master cylinder and with the lines attached, just bend the lines forward so the brake booster has the clearance needed to be removed. I didn't want to take a chance ruining my lines so I took the more messy route (I was also replacing a leaking master cylinder, so I had to remove it anyway).

I have no input on the NAPA remanufactured booster.
I was lucky enough that Aisin still made a booster for my truck even though all others have pretty much been discontinued by both Toyota and Aisin so I didn't have to worry about possible marginal part quality.

Yes, I'm hoping this^^^^ is the case. Should be because I also have the 22RE.

The biggest hurdle was that my original brake booster was a double diaphragm. This is the version that is hard to come by. My mechanic found one for $370. At least my erratic idle has disappeared now too.
