Bored 40 over do I need to mess with anything?
I have a question and I did not want to intrude on someone else's thread. I Bored my rebuilt motor 40 over and I have no pep what so ever. My new rebuilt motor has as much pep as my 278,000 mile motor did. Is there something I need to adjust. I have tried timing at zero and at 5 btdc. I have advanced timing and nothing, I have retarded timing and nothing. I have adjusted tps to spec and bought numberous new parts. Why real question is should I adjust the gears in the MAF at all? Does anyone else have a bored out engine that can help me out here?

With 4 cylinders of fury how much "pep" can you expect? Try new plugs, wires, etc
A properly rebuilt motor can only run as "peppy" as all the other stuff that has 278K miles will let it run.

All the other stuff? I have replaced almost everything in the motor. Everything is new except the block it self. New pumps, Pullies, Wires, distributer, Fuel injectors, exhaust, I would say the only thing that is not new is the TPS and The power steering pump. I have but three known good tps on truck and have adjusted accordingly. I just asking should I richen up the VAFM or whatever it is buy adjusting it 1 or two tooths richer or leaner.

^ You can richen the VAFM a little. Maybe ISR? I know the 22REs are a little difficult because of the distance from the TB to the VAFM, but if you do that or just flip the battery and VAFM it increases Throttle response. That might be the pep you're looking for.

A 1mm overbore only takes the 22R-E from 2367 to 2418cc. That is an increase of 50cc, which is tiny and should not affect the way the truck runs on stock electronics. IMO, either your 278k engine was a strong runner or there is something else wrong with your rebuilt one.

Was getting ready to say the same thing. A small overbore isn't going to add much of anything. Most piston manufacturers size the piston crown appropriately so you end up with the same compression ratio as stock so going oversize will not significantly affect anything, or at least not enough to trigger the "butt dyno".
Given that the compression ratio shouldn't have changed with the overbore, adjusting the VAFM won't affect much either, but might. As mentioned, one click at most. However, the O2 sensor can affect the mixture that much as well so the ECU should adjust the fuel trim appropriately.
When the engine was rebuilt, was the head surfaced? If so, was the camshaft degreed in?
