Body Lift a good idea?

I was just wondering if anyone had any input on how a 3 inbody lift with a 4 in. suspension lift and 35's will affect body roll and how just top heavy it will seem. I can just see it being really wobbly and feel like its going to tip over is this the case?

It will make it more top heavy, but your suspension lift will also do that, because your motor and tranny, and frame are at the same height with a body lift. I wouldn't go for any more than a 2 inch body lift. Ask yourself if you really need 35's.....

3" body lift would raise your COG less then a suspension lift of the same size..

I would do only a 3" body lift, any less and its hardly worth it IMO

Ever notice how 95% of the guys who bash body lifts, don't have them?

Having the body lift makes working on the engine easier too

i dont have one i agree, but im not bashing them. i plan on getting one so i can fit some 33s in . but 3inches of body lift plus a 4 inch suspension lift? that seems pretty high to me

If you think about it. COG wise it would be like a 5.5" suspension lift, since you are only lifting the body (a very small part of the overall weight of your car) not like suspension lifts when you lift the body, frame, engine, drivetrain.

i have a 3in BL on my runner with 5in lift springs and im running 35s, i think the body lift is great i have absolutly no clearance issues, and i could run up to 37s with out rubbing also. ive only had one problem with my 3in BL and that would be it messes up the shifter boot. because the body is threee inches higher the shifters are at a diferent angle as they would be without a body lift. so pretty much the shifters travel further when shifting wich tears the shifter boots. but that the only problem ive experienced. also the extra clearence is nice for working on the drivetrain. and gives me the option of a drivetrain lift.

I've got a 3" bl and about 6 suspension running 36's and I LOVE IT!

It's an awesome setup and it looks great. I clear the 36's with no trimming and no rubbing whatsoever. The truck is a little tippy now though so you have to pay attention when you're driving but if you can walk and chew gum at the same time you can handle it.

Handling wise your truck already has the bad part, the bracket lift. The bl won't make it handle any worse than it already does. As long as you don't try to drive your truck like a sports car it will be fine 3" higher.

And I also wouldn't bother doing any less than 3". If you're going to do it do it right.

Put a nerf or slider on the truck and you can hardly even tell the bl is on there...

Suspension lift raises COG more than a body lift.

We do 1" body lifts as they avoid issues when when you go higher, give you some added clearance and make working on things much easier.

Let us know if we can help you with something.

Yeah I agree with wabbit, one inch goes a long way and is the most I want. BTW I have a 1" BL. It does make working under and around the truck easier.

i just orderd the 3" body lift from 4crawler as well as a 2 inch engine lift. i think raising the engine, transfer case and gas tank will give me more clearance then just a suspension lift for rolling over stuff or up ledges.
i have also used the 2 inch rear spring spacers and bj .im sure raising the motor will slightly affect the cog but its not a street racer so i dont think im to worried.i got the bodylift to give more room for my 33's (i know its not needed)but also for slider space under the rockers and motor lift should keep my auto shifter in its right place .hopefully

i dont have an opinion yet but i will let u know what i think after its all done

Holy poop Batman, this place is really dual

I've talked about the advantages of a bl (and I believe that they're almost a must have) numerous times in numerous threads and it seems that most of the people get their pantyhose all twisted up over it..

Anyway, 3", IMHO is too much, however bl's in general are almost a must for those that really wheel their rigs. They offered advantages that suspension lifts simply don't.

x2!! i have a 3" body lift and a 4" suspension and its great! no tippy feeling at all. and i clear 35's no problem! the 3" body lift is AWESOME because i have SO much clearance to work on things. i would have to kill myself if i would have tried to put headers on my 3.slow without the body lift!! i always hear people bashing body lifts. and they are usually the people with a stock truck with little to no mods. people who "heard it from a guy".
