has anyone ever put black taillight covers by AVS or something similar to them on the 89-95 gen pickup or 4runner? saw them here http://www.racepages.com/performance...9&brandid=3196 and just wanted to see how they would look if anyone has them. thanks

Looks so '90s so I guess it would fit your truck but I'd avoid making your lights harder to see.

!!!Newbie poster!!!

Hi, I tinted my rear lights using Burgundy transparent glass paint in my airbrush, with clearcoat on top.
I think they now look much better than the sun faded originals.

Becareful, as blacking out your taillights is Illegal in many states and areas. I know it is Illegal here in WA.

Painted body color lenses will get you pulled over in most of our 50 states since tailights must reflect light from a source and be visible to others behind you.

Mine are legal, just cause i didnt paint over the red reflective part, but i know NJ is definitely a stickler for stupid laws like that, thats why i keep my vehicles registered in FL...there laws arent so strict, you could drive a cardboard box on wheels down there....lol

One guy I know took clear and added a few drops of black paint to it and sprayed his taillights. They looked good.

I've used Candy Apple model paint and VHT Nightshades.
The Nightshades stuff does a good job.

why not just buy aftermarkets guys? Seriously, go through all that trouble and your lights look cool, but they are dimm as hell. Ive seen that done to other vehicles and it just looks tacky in my opinion. You want black tailights, hop on ebay pick up a pair of carbon fiber altezzas for 90 tops, and then you have new, brighter, and better looking lights. Not to mention you can look like big brother .. those new Tundras are sweet.

but i will say, this is the first pair of painted tailights that i have seriously liked. Prolly cuz they are runner lights instead of the early PU.
