hey guys im ordering some 1.5" BJ spacers tomm, how long of shocks do you think ile need? my t bars are cranked from previous owner witch im going to leave. i no the ride qulity iseant going to be that great. my truck is a 93 toyota pickup 22re.

 

measure your stock shock and add 2"

say goodbye to my cv's? that's why they make a diff drop to help with the excessive cv angles. plus i dont do a lot of hard core wheeling so im not going to worry about it.

 

Check 4Crawler.com, he has some shock recommendations on there and tells how to shim them with washers if they are a bit too short.

Or, wait until Sunday night, I am installing my 1.5" ball joint spacers Sunday morning. I will tell you how the OME front shocks work out.

My buddy and I did the rear OME Dakar springs, OME shocks, and 5.29's/lockright last night. We did a test run at 2:00 AM with the stock tires and a severely raked suspension. That thing has a ton of torque with 28" tires, runs through the gears pretty quick.

33x10.5 BFG's are stacked in the garage, waiting for the front lift.

i need new shocks any way so it would be pointless to try and shim them. thanks for your input.

 

I'm just saying if your going to go throught the trouble of putting the BJ spacers in, cranking the t-bars, AND doing a diff drop aren't you pretty much at bracket lift height? I rode in a truck with cranked t-bars and the ride was scary even after the alignment.

 

my t bars were cranked from the PO. and yes ile get close to the bracket lift hite but i just don't have the money to by a 4 inch lift plus the tires to go with it. bj spacers are cheap and t bars cost nothing. my ride right now isent that bad, its a little bumpy on ruff roads

I bought some Skyjackers, they are about the most inexpensive. They will give you the product numbers you need at their site. I picked mine up off of ebay after that. Order them at no more than 2" of lift and you will be good.

Diff drop is a must but cheap. Make sure you also get a swaybar drop or your front driveshaft will hit the swaybar. You can make one or just order it. For the time it takes to cut stock and find materials you may as well just order the stuff.

 

well, in your first post, you didn't say you were getting diff drops, so we don't know what you have done/plan on doing. But the ride will suck none the less as the suspension will basically not flex.

 

Is it the bj spacers, the torsion bar crank, or the combination of the two that stress the CV's?

 

I did my BJ lift over the weekend. I just put up a post on the build.

The OME shocks for my 1st gen rig fit perfect with the BJ lift in it. At full droop they do not limit travel and do not bottom out under compression. I am running the stock bump stops. I did not need to do any shimming of the shocks

I have the OME N98's in the front. Bought them through 4Wheel Parts, they are special order.
