Actually about the RF / LA debate: LA (lightning Audio) is still LA and not RF, BUT rf DOES own LA. However RF also owns MB Quart. This does not mean that MBQ's Q series comps are the same as RF's top line unit.

Kind of like Jaguar being owned by ford but nothing in ford's lineup is like a Jag and vice versa.

Lightning Audio makes sub-entry level stuff (walmart) to some pretty damn good stuff that works great for those of us in the competition lanes. While I wouldn't buy anything from walmart, I would not hesitate to buy LA's higher up stuff.

Well thats cool. I like that analogy, cause even your last sentence can be related to it (sorry, I love good analogies). Even though ford makes some lower budget vehicles compared to Jaguar, I would still not hesitate to buy a GT40.

But anyhoo, yeah I thought it was just the same thing just marked differently. Like how Blue Point tools are owned by Snap On, just a little cheaper, but you can still have em replaced or fixed for free by Snap On when they go kaput.

I'm running a Pioneer Head unit ... forget the # its the mp3 w/ remote one.

Two 6 or 6.5" (I forget) 3 way doors and factory 3?" dash.. The dash speakers SURPRISINGLY handle the high output (before distortion [clipping] really well. They produce the extra treble the pioneer doors don't. Worked out really really well.

I was going to replace them till I heard how well they mesh with the door mounted speakers.

I have RAMPAGE Audio covers on my door speakers tho. I can't freakn believe you can't find a full mesh speaker cover anymore.

The RF's in your truck are totally exposed to foot damage and mud and whatever. Mine had similar cover but just didnt protect anything from a big boot. I have box's though (truck had em when i bought it) so the speakers are mounted in 1.5" boxs on the doors. The speakers in the doors before had a deeper magnet and wouldnt fit flush mount.

great idea on the sub box. I couldn't get ANYTHING to fit behind the bench seat i had and gave up on subs alltogether. I have to have the seat as far back as possible (IM TALL! 6'2!!!)..

now i have buckets, anyone have ideas for buckets??? this sub box fit?

Pioneer 3-way .. also FYI this great place to mount a small flashlight =)

Forgot to mention the pioneers produce a surprising amount of bass. Only downfall is you have to have it turned up to get the bass. At lower levels alot of the depth of the sound is gone.

I like loud music so this hasn't been to annoying. Not to mention the truck is loud, this aint no Lexus... so having the music up is enjoyable =)

the bass is good in all in your guy's trucks... is it punchy? The cab is so small and its hard to get full range of quality smooth and NON punchy bass.. i wish i could i hear to believe it. This is why bass sounds best if its placed @ the rear of a vehicle separated by seats, walls, trunks.. the bass is muffled which gives the illusion of smoothness.

behind the seat doesnt it produce a directional sound? How annoying is it on your back? butt? LOL

I have a killer system just on the pc and the sub is below the desk.. takes up most of the desk well and i love the vibrations i feel in the seat, lol... hows the truck seats? =)

I got good bass in mine. My stereo includes Panasonic CQ-C3303U Headunit. Infinity Ref Series 4 inchers in the dash and 5 1/4s in the side panels behind the front doors. a Kicker KX-600.4 Amp with 2 Pioneer Slim Line 12s in sealed boxes behind the seat. Not as good as some of my previous vehicles due to lack of space, but it hits very hard for such a limited space.

Nice sq setup. Why'd ya get rid of it? W7 is one of the better sounding subs out there.

I still have 2 dd9915s with 7.6kW rms on them - 155.6 legal on the dash, with a fully functional backseat AND I cant even see the box from my rearview!

Soda cans go flying out of the drink holder - you cant breath, think, see, or swallow in any shape, way, or form with the bass hits. I love it!

I buy almost all of my car sterio equipment from Crutchfield.com. With any dash unit they will give you a wiring harness so that you can plug it dirrectly into the factory plug. Makes the installation a piece of cake.

I had some JVC unit that was setup like a Bazooka tube with an amp on the unit in my old standard cab. It totally rocked out the bass. It didn't fit that great behind the seat though. That with two 4" infinity speakers in the factory spots sounded fantastic.

i just have a MTX 12" sub box with tweeters in it also that was designed to go in the back window of a 80s/early 90s camaro behind the seat on the passenger side. im comfortable, but my passenger isnt . when i had both speakers back there, the bass sounded like thunder, even with no amp. it was just draining my battery, so i decided to go with one.
