it depends on how much work you wanna do if you wanna take the tank out or not there is a good method on line using distiled water baking soda and a trickle charger you submerge the tank and hookitup to the tank and a grund in the water it will remove all the rust in and on the tank it is befar the best way to clean it but that is only if you wanna remove the tank i did it on yamaha tank

Thats looks pretty cool. Is there any risk of getting a shock off of that? Or not since it's 12-volt?

Is it me, or does the idea of gasoline + hydrogen + 2 amps = 911 call?

I saw the remains of a Toyota dealership that burned to the ground while the tank was being cleaned. I don't know what method was being used, but it started indoors.

You're assuming no gas or hydrogen vapor present and a wash tank large enough to submerge the whole thing to completely eliminate the chance of gas vapor at least. That's more of an assumption than I'd be willing to make.

Good luck, at least do it outside.

ive heard of cream, i believe its what ATVers use to clean their metal tanks from the inside out. my buddys 3 wheeler, honda atc350, had a really rusted tank inside. so he put the stuff in and it cleaned right up.
