Best Tire size for a stock 91 pickup

I just got into the toyota game and bought a 91 pickup that was in the middle of a field. I just got her running yesterday and looking to get her on the road asap. I will post pics soon. I dont mind spening money but its bone stock and I dont want rubbing issues and still want decent gas miliage. Let me know, Thanks.

With a question like best it makes it hard to answer. Best for stock look, best for off road traction?, best for fuel millage? I believe stock 2wd Toyota pickup tires are around 195-70-R14. It should be listed on the plate in the door jam as far as what came stock with your truck. Then decide if that's what you want or what you want to change about it. Then if you can't decide at that point a more pointed question will make it easier to answer.

31x10.5 is a good size without rubbing. Anything bigger may create rubbing.

^This. I have read on here many times that 31s will rub, but it all depends on what rims you mount the tires on. You shouldn't be rubbing anywhere if you mount 31s on the rims you have now. To play it safe, you could always install a set of 30x9.5" tires. BFG makes the All Terrain in that size, too.

EDIT: Roark, I loled at your signature

Looks like you've got some exhaust work to do!

Search around for other's experience. 31's should fit just fine, some models came with those stock (Xtra cab). I know that some have put 32's on 4Runners with no rubbing, but the Reg cab frame looks a bit smaller so I'm not sure.

I turned her on last night and she was so loud she was making alarms go off. (I can use that phrase in another context. Lol) but im still doing research on best muffler. Its going to be a DD for right now. 31 is what im going to go with. Now to the muffler. If you got ideas let me know I want performance but more into it being quiet.

I run 31x10.5's on my 88 with a 22re. You could probably fit 32's without rubbing depending on what offset rims you get. I leave my 31's on all year event with the plow on they dont come close to rubbing. I will say that you aren't going anywhere in the snow unless you put alot of weight in the truck or leave it in 4x4. Also my 22re has a LCE head, headers and a cam with the stock 4.10 gear ratio. I think that if you had an automatic or no mods you would notice a big performance drop by putting these tires on.

I currently have 235 75 at's on my stock 89 and they look way to small. I had 31 10.50's when i first got the truck and they still had plenty of room without rubbing. I think i'll be going to 33's and cutting/pounding the area's that rub lol...

31 10.50's will be your best bet IMO

The 22RE will sound different than the V6 3VZE, but I've had nothing but good experience with Magnaflow mufflers. Not much louder than stock and I got a nice 3 MPG boost with the swap. Probably the best and most cost effective mod I've done to date. The 22RE isn't as starved for air as the 3VZE, but you will most likely get a smaller boost in MPG as well. Oh, and did I mention it increases your power as well?

^Agreed. I like my Magnaflow on my 3vze. I don't know how they'll sound on a 22re. I bet there are some Youtube videos out there.

treadwrights look like a good deal untill i saw the $35+ shipping on each tire. you could buy a set of name brand tires with free shipping for about the same amount of cash.

You'd have to buy new wheels for 16" tires because most trucks come stock with 15's

It would sound good but not produce as good results as on the 3vz I believe <-- Still better than stock though!!!

But some pickups and 4runners came from the factory with 31x10.5 tires.

Anyway, from the front doors forward, a pickup is the same as a 4Runner. So how would a 31x10.5 not work with a pickup, but not a 4Runner?
