best ball joint for 2nd gen 4runner
Looking for the best (grease able) ball joint money can buy(lower & upper). Testimonies ! not personal preference plz. ive seen a few one where you cant pump grease once they are install since you cant reach the zerk fitting, so yeah definitely not putting that on my truck if they cant even engineer that, im very doubtful they can design a ball joint XD
thx guys !

OEM no doubt. JUst looking at the machined surface where aftermarket is simply painted and left that way
I have had about 6 aftermarket ones in there, they all fking fail / suck / get play. Even had one with a nylon lock nut. Scary stuff.
If you find a good alternative, let us know!

your going to be hard pressed to find anyone on this site that tells you anything other than OEM for the best parts for your truck.. that being said last time I checked you could get 555 balljoints from rockauto branded under beck/arnley for about 25 bucks a piece... although 555 is not factually a Toyota genuine part, most people will agree that's is the next best thing.

If you want a decent warranty buy from your local dealer and hope they give a crap..
Worth noting that if you have any non-standard geometry (lift!) It's not thier fault when (if?) it fails..
..
I don't know what is in my RET, I carry a spare set of cheep ones from Rock auto and the tools to change them if the need arises..
Actually it has a plethora of tools, parts, and plugs. As long as it's not one of the aluminum rims or a cam I am hopefully covered.

OEM only. They lasted this long. It should be a no-brainer. All the other brands develop play super fast with or without a lift. Some have really bad seals that tear and let all the grease go everywhere and water/grit in. The absolute worst ones I've seen are Moog. This is somewhat surprising because they are a brand with a supposedly good reputation, but they are truly the worst ones.

I have a two wheel drive with 555 Made in Japan upper ball joints that I installed a little bit over two years ago. Still working good. Have a grease fitting, and a nipple to expel the old grease. Have to get the rubber good and tight before the old grease starts coming out of the nipple...but then it keeps coming for a a good bit.
When it comes time to change the lowers, I am going to roll with Proforged. Proforged same price as the 555 lowers, so I will give them a try.
