A little spit and determination with a bit of wiggle you can get just about anything to fit!!

Well okay...I got everything hooked up and ready to start...had to hit the gas some but it worked the first time around...had to pop start it the second time...and now it wont...so I was in the middle of my street for a while checking stuff...odd thing is that I was sitting with the key turned on...and all my lights and gauges suddenly light up...but as soon as I turn the key they go out...

Jerry You still have the stock exhaust on there? What size, I have an idea on how to fix it. I guess the same thing I did with mine before I put my Cat on. It's rather simple, but need to know what size exhaust your running at that section to look for something.

I wanna say stock size piping is 1 3/4 or 2" but not sure. Time to break out the caliper. lol. I should some where around here still have a tube of exhaust sealant as well, where as usual I have no clue. Remember I will OOC for at least 3 days next week (WED + THURS) and also TUE to go get the GF's mothers Jeep.

yeah well lately I'm OOC every day....grrrrrr.

I will measure.....basically I need a sleeve-type connector to join the pipes before the muffler.....after the muffler I don't know what I will do.

wecould move this to my original thread though.....I don't want to clutter this one up

I just read this thread through tonight, and need to repeat what so many have said already: Very nice thread. I'd love to rebuild a 22re at some point, and this revised thread of yours gives one of the best balances of information I've come across for the project. Not too much that I feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the process, and enough that I can grasp the steps of the process and learn to over come them one at a time. The original engine in my project truck fell victim to the same timing guide issue, no clue if it's salvageable because it's been sitting since '97 according to the PO, but at some point I might start to pull it apart to better acquaint myself with it. Thanks again for the work you put into this thread.

very much appreciate the compliments.

hopefully the motor you are talking about had the oil-water mix drained and fresh oil put in.....otherwise I would think it is gonna be seized...or will be soon. best bet, in my humble opinion, is to pull the motor....now that I have done and in-the-bay and out-of-the-bay build, I would say that pulling the motor is really the only way to go.
