I'm planning on Durabaking the inside of my 86. Has anyone done this? What potential issues might I have?

I'm also putting on Bushwaker cut-outs. Will I be able to clear an aggressive mud tire (32x11.5/15)?

Well I thought I'd post because no one else did, lol. I think you are talking about a spray in liner? I know one guy who did this to his rig (in the cab) and didn't like it because of the smell.

Why not just paint the inside?

 

is the smell permanent? or did the smell wear off?

 

It's really hard to get dirt out of the inside. Pain't is a little easier, but I didn't like cleaning that either.

There is no smell at all. I used the Duplicolor kit $68.00 from Advance Auto Parts. I did three THICK coats and still had a little less than 1/2 a gallon left.

One thing i don't like is the finnish is too glossy for me so I am going to use up the can of spay-on bed-liner i used to cut in the corners with. The spray on has a duller finnish.

The smell did go away apparently, or my buddy got used to it. Either way, I don't really see any advantage over paint beyond asthetics.

 

I see your point, for me I never planned on instaling carpet in my junk. I drove for a year without any floor mats or carpeting and in a year and the paint got worn down (from the sand and muck) to the steel causing some minor surface rust, and it looked like crap. It was easy to claen tho

If Citizencruz is going to wheel his rig and maybe keep the carpet; why not protect the floor pan with bedliner (protect from moisture trapped between the steel and carpet)? The rattlecan stuff is pretty tough when prepped right.

Durabak is a DIY bedliner (either spray-on or roll in) like Rhinoliner. I did this with my '84 cj-7 and loved the fact that I could just hose out the inside of the jeep after mudding. The rhino also sealed all the metal, was abrasion resistant, deadened the sound, provided a non-skid surface and looked kick a**.Durabak

 

Dude, I thought you never tried it. Why would the results be any different in a Yota? I'm confused.

 

I had the Rhino lining done for me. The CJ was pretty straightforward. Since I plan on doing it myself this time, my concern was wiring, sound deadener (which I just found ), trim amd mouldings, etc. The CJ didnt have a lot of the creature comforts (carpet, etc.)the 4runner does. I've also never used the Durabak product. I'm wondering how well it works.

I did a search here on the site and a lot of people have talked about Durabak but I didnt see any posts where anyone used the Durabak brand product.

Hey they have sand/tan! I can have the camo look in the bed too! I never heard of the stuff before.
