automatic shifter sloppy, can it be adjusted?

Slowly getting my 4runner going, put the two front axles and brakes on yesterday glad thats behind me. My shifter has alot of play in it front to back and side to side, is there anyway to take the slack out?

kind of a pain but there are some rubber bushings, 4 i think, that turn to mush. the dealership charges a buck and some change for them.

They are a pain to change out. Especially difficult to get the sliding indicators back in where they dont shatter. (I lost that battle) The real pain is forgetting to thread the OD button back through and not realizing it until after you finish reassembly.

Write every step down and folloe exactly, leep looking at parts. I think I had to completely reassemble mine 5 times to get it right.

I turned soldid bronze bushings for mine, I didnt want to buy plastic ones.
