How about it y'all would anyone post their experiances with flushing your tranny's. I bought the hype a couple of years ago. 76 Volvo wagon with 230k or so on it. Thought the preventitive maintenance idea sounded good. The box ran fine and shifted great. Within 5k it was dead.

ive heard before that if your tranny is on its way out its best to not flush it for some reason or another, not really sure why, but ive heard that before.

 

on another note, i just had my tranny flushed at 120k in my 4runner, also had it done at 60k, and it still shifts fine

 

I just had mine flushed at about 36,000. I will continue to do so every 30-40 problly. A few bux preventative maintenace is better than a new tranny. I think its worth doing on a normal basis.

 

I've flushed my tranny at 90k and 135k. Both times using the tranny's own pump to perform the flush. I haven't experienced any problems and will continue to flush it every 40k.

 

The reason that is is because the fluid is actually holding some of the worn down parts in place. Flushing it all out can dislodge some of the parts or crap in there and then everything comes apart.

dirt gets on the clutch plates and they adjust to compensate for the dirt and gunk on the plates and once its flushed it washes everything away and they no longer have anything to grab.
