Aussie locker first use and review

Well this has got nothing to do with rocks or mud or anything serious. Today we had (still have) a HUGE storm over Albuquerque and as I'm on the way to get some beer this thing lets loose. In less than 7 minutes the streets up here in the NE are full and running like half sober prom dates. On the way back from the store I've got water up past the axles (remind me to pull the fluid just in case and install those diff breathers I've had on the shelf for 4 months) and there is all kinds of crap floating in there. Now we all know that a Toyota is pretty light when it comes to water, my 1 tons never even flinched at this but they were more for the ladies than the rocks......

I'm about two blocks from the house, crossing a cross street and I'll be damned if this honest-to-God log comes raging down the road. I didn't see it until it hit the frame, I'm very happy it missed the rocker (intalling sliders now) and door. Well this damn thing gets crossed up against me and there I go sliding down the street. It hit the drivers side 31 and that damn tire HOOKED UP!! Nomally the other side would just sit and do nothing. NOT TODAY!!!! Both tires are pulling, one on the street and one on the log pressed against the street, and I climbed up that log a little off camber in dang near a foot of RUNNING water and made it out. When I looked back there was a line of vehicles that stopped when I went through and then just stayed there. I guess they figured if it took a Toy to ford the creek then no one else was going to make it.

I know it's not some crazy cool rock crawling trail thing but I really belive if that ass hadn't been Aussied I'd still be being pushed around by the water and that damn log.

Ricky

great story man. I really want an Aussie soon! Being in So Cal, I might not have the freak storms to worry about. But still, I need that aussie!

It was a spectacular cloudburst. I live in the NE heights too, and my back yard had at least 6 inches of water in it for a few minutes afterward. I wish I'd been out and seen the Aussie test, and I think I'll go drive out and about when the big storms hit so I don't feel like I'm wasting my snorkel

Glad it turned out OK ... moving water like that is not something to play around with. One could say the people who stopped were smart and you not so much ...

But dude- How the heck was he supposed to get the beer if he didn't drive out in the water? Priorities man!

Cool story Junker! I remember driving through flooded streets like that in Pheonix circa 1990.

When did this storm happen? I was at work at the sunport all day then went out to eat afterwards near the university and never even saw any rain to speak of.

It hit my house right about 5pm. Of course it was gone by 5:30 but it left a heck of a lot of water, hail and sleet in my yard.

This is a good commercial story for either Aussie locker co. or Budweiser....
