Any idea where to get a Shift Knob Insert
Hello all, I have a 1988 standard pickup, 4-speed. I lost the insert on the shift knob. I know it's not a big deal, but it just sort of bugs me. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Thanks in advance for any help.

Ive seen generic replacements at kragens and some speed shops will also carry them, otherwise you will have to order it from the dealer, and you would probably have to order the complete shift knob.

got a bunch of punk kids in your area? Do they like the Scions like they do in mine? If you're lucky, you can find the one I got in the junkyard on one'a thems, but you can also find other toyota shifters in those cars as well. I paid like $50 shipped for mine brand spanking new if I remember right. Ebay. What, you need a warranty with your shifter knob? pi-shaa.

Thanks for all your help
Thanks everyone. I tried getting one at my dealer but they said I'd have to buy the entire knob for some huge amount that I can't even remember. I've tried my local junk yards, but neither had one. In fact, the one guy said, "We hardly ever get those trucks in, either the owners keep them for parts or they never wear out--probably a little of both."
So, I guess I'm not the only one whose Toyota truck is still running. I'll keep searching and try contacting the one person suggested in this post. If I come up with a good place to find the insert, I'll let everyone know.
I could upgrade to a new knob, but I'm kind of partial to my old one. Bought my truck new (1988) -- don't know if I could get used to a new one. Thanks again all.

I found my insert!
Thanks to everyone who replied to this post, but last night I actually found my shift knob insert. It had gotten lodged under the vinyl floor-covering many years ago. I pulled the seat out for the first time just to fix it up. Even vacuumed the whole things out a couple days ago, and still didn't find it. It was hidden pretty good. So, 17 years after falling off, I re-installed it last night.
As for anyone else with this problem, all I can say is, good luck. I checked with online parts stores and online junk yards, but nothing came of it. Probably would have to buy a whole new shift knob either from a dealer or a completely different one with the same threads (p.s., it just unscrews). Unless it's really bugging you, that's probably not an option because they tend to be pretty expensive.
If I get any additional information, I'll post again to this thread. Once again, thanks to the community for all your help.

Any for a 4 speed manual? H-pattern, with reverse to the right and back. My insert popped off the other week and I'm ready to give up looking for it. The sticky goo under the insert has finally all rubbed off on my right (shifting) hand. I have the black rubber ball shifter
