EDIT: So you want about 2-3" of lift, just for looks? If so you can get balljoint spacers for the front and shackles or a block for the rear and you'll be set. Then it'll have form and function as opposed to the body lift and will only cost slightly more.

Well seeing how I just bought 33" for my truck I kind of need to gain a couple inches.

I think I am just going to build a body lift for it.It cant be that hard and my dad can help me out with it.

With a second set of hands, you can knock out a body lift in about 3-4 hours.

I did it by myself in about 6-7. Lots of rusty bolts, a couple snags. All in all, really easy. I could do it again in 2-3 hours no problem.

I've got a 3" body lift, completly sagged out suspension and I'm running 33 x 12.5's. Minor rubbing at full lock, removed the mudflaps, massaged the seam weld and cut/glued the inner fender back.

Stock bolts are 10mm, 3/8" is a commonly available bolt size to use.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
You guys wanting the cheapest lift so's you can just bolt the biggest tires you can find on it are killing your trucks... Like MPG, Clutch, Tranny... All highly over rated items...

I've been there, hell, we've all been there... So might I suggest a plan?

Body lifts arent all bad, I will do one myself one day but it won't be to stupifiy my truck with big tires it can't pull...

If you know you're gonna bitch and complain about the power, then why neuter it from the get-go?

If all you want is bigger tires so you can go off roading, why lift it the cheapest possible way?

Doesn't make sense to me, but then again I guess if it did, nobody would complain about about stock gearing and big tires? Or taxes being too high...

Why not just get aggressive tires in the size you need, then get some pocket lockers and save up for gears? Oh wait... Can't impress the friends that way, and open diffs really don't suck That's WAY too practical...

On 2nd thought, I'd fab a 6" body lift and throw some 36's or 38's on it... I mean, that's what you want right? That's the ultimate goal, cheapest, fastest, right? That'd be tha bomb, man!

If you have a 4x4, appreciate how your truck already fits 31". Like Tried4x2signN said, just get aggresive tires in stock size. Anything tire over 31" is just asking to be slashed by some jealous kid at the super market.

speechless.. blah i just moved up from 235/75/15's it's like it never had power till i put on 31's! when i drove up to ashville nc yesterday it climbed better than it ever did. but i'd still like my 2inch body lift while im collecting parts for my sas. besides if you can fab stuff for free at school then why not use it?

i think tried4x2signN needs to keep the bashing to a minimum...the Mods are not gonna put up with it much longer buddy...seems like a pattern here lately, are you on the rag or something???

there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with Body lifts, not a damn thing!!!!!!!

however going over 3" starts getting a little scary lol!

a whole crapload of people do a 2" body lift to fit a 3.4 under their hood??? are they...but since they are using a body lift that obivously means they are stupid and are only trying to fit the largest possible tire right tried4x2signN???

i don't like to bash other people or what they are trying to do..(unless it's somthing like a NOOB trying to fabricate his own bracket lift or somethin ) but there is NO reason to bash a body lift, oooohhhh soo what, a little bit more frame gets shown...big deal?!? so what if it looks tacky? it gets the job done doesn't it????

Bigger tires = more ground clearance
Body lift = bigger tires
Body lift = More ground clearance.
I don't see a problem with body lifts.. They make working on the truck easier, and they also give you the chance to replace rotten bushings holding on the body..

generally big tires (over 33's) aren't needed for moderate rockcrawling..i say maybe get a 2" body lift, run some 35's with lockers front and rear...hell just lockers will get you 5x's further than open diffs and 36's

Cheaper than that is to just break out the sawzall. Worked for my buddy. hes got 35s stuffed with a little body trimming. just extra weight right? If you plan on crawling itsgonna get beat anyways...
