Well I'm back guys. My truck runs like absolute crap and has been for the bast 5 months. I'm about 80% discouraged and rather walk at this point. Here is break down of whats going on:
- I'm getting Codes 51 and 52
- I broke the knock sensor while removing the head but replaced it with the help of lumpy and others
- The Check engine light comes on after 2000rpm and retards the timing horribly
- The timing was super advanced for 5 months but gave me a good idle to 2000rpm power band
- Retimed it with the help of a mechanic friend from the college, now it idles nicely but has no power up untill 1500+ rpm but cuts off at 2000pm (that's only 500rpm to drive with)
- There is an intermittent miss
- Excessive consumption of gas
- throttle is extremely finicky when CEL is off but feels like the CEL is on
-When CEL is on, the truck has no power, I have to rev it to 4500 rpm to climb small hills
- The AC pulley fell off so I have no AC now.
--- I really hope the timing didn't jump a tooth if it did I might cry.
It is a task to drive this truck now. I really need some help guys. I might just stop driving this thing and sell it for ˟˟˟˟˟ cause it feels like I'm driving a lump of it. I have a tiny tiny budget (maybe less than 150 dollars due to college finances)
If this gets no hits I will just start another thread. Help Please!! I accept that I am not as mechanically inclined as I thought I was.

Welcome back. You sound pretty discouraged. Before you get too upset the first thing to do is put the motor at top dead center on the compression stroke & pull the distributor car to see if the rotor is pointing at #1.

51 can be related to AC switch, but is usually TPS code being thrown. (however, you saying "I have no AC now" and why, I might think that it's unplugged and you at least need to reset the ECU)
52 is Knock Sensor. Is it possible that you wired it wrong? (got the shielded wire shoved in the connector)... Sorry if I missed that... thought I read the wire was pulled out. If it's NOT operating properly, or at all, it will DEFINITELY screw up your timing left and right if it's sensing a knock/ping.
I think Rob is right, be CERTAIN of the 'basics of combustion, first', and then I would start a Process Of Elimination list.
1. Pulled Dizzy Cap, with motor on TDC-0 on compression stroke, Rotor is on #1
2. Pulled the EFI fuse and reset the ECU
3. Checked TPS readings
4. Checked knock sensor for bad wiring, etc.(removed plug from it and same issues exist)
5. Checked Voltage and Resistance at ECU........ (.............
this and others are obviously just examples, ...not saying you need to check things at the ECU... I might though, lol).
Best wishes, Man, STINKS having so many things go wrong at once, and it stinks even more not knowing where to start.

SHE'S ALIVE!!! I took her my cousins friend and she brought my truck back to life.
I spent 2 days detailing it with my roommate so pictures to come!
-aikane, it's good to know there are other fellow YT members out here in hilo!

The mechanic who worked on it said it was mostly the timing. I was under the impression the timing skipped a tooth but she said it was lined up right. I'm assuming it was distributor related and It need to be locked in right or else it runs like garbage. I still get a CEL after 2000 rpm but the timing doesn't become retarded, above 3000rpm it runs really good. I'm gonna pull the codes tonight and post again. It's so nice to have my truck running again.
