Am I the first with a rear window problem??

Actually, I know I'm not, but I've tried the search function and couldn't seem to come up with what I wanted.

Anybody know a link on where to start? Thanks.

Some more info on your rig would help.

Guess that was pretty vague. Window won't go up or down. Where do I start on troubleshooting this thing? Thanks.

What year vehicle do you have as that makes a huge difference in how to trouble shoot.

First thing I would suggest, take the WINDOW LOCK to OFF and try that...

From there, we'll have to know what year you are messing with.

Ok, ok, I deserved to have my rear ended pinned on the wall for how this thread has been presented!! Too many beers is catching up with me!!

1989 4Runner. Basic model....no a/c.

I did manage to get the window down. Wondered what those two wires sticking out from the rear gate were for. Hooked up my small 12 volt battery from the riding lawn mower and bingo......down comes the window!! Previous owner had jumped into the circuit right before the motor.

Now need to find why it won't work the way it is suppose to. Tried the lockout button, but that didn't do any good. Used my circuit tester to test the "up/down" switch.......light didn't glow on tester, but I could hear a solenoid or relay clicking when I would touch the different terminals.

I'll go read up somemore with the links provided and see what else I can come up with.

Thank you.

What? no invites!

This really is a common problem and an easy fix. With the previous owner bypassing the power tho', you will need to find a proper power source.
I had to rewire min also, and connected mine to permanent power so I could roll all of my windows up or down without a key. Makes working in the truck easier.
Good Luck
