Air pressure split, front to rear on 90-95 Runners
What's everyone running in the rear versus the front on unloaded Runners?
I have a 92 Runner that's mostly unloaded on 255/70/16 Yokos. The previous owner had 26psi in the front and 30 in the rear. The fronts wore "ok", but the rears were definitely overinflated. Factory says 26/35, but that's for a fully loaded vehicle, they don't have a recommendation for an unloaded one. Being that 30 is too much for the rear and 26 works OK in the front, I assume the rear needs to be ~22 or so unloaded. Never had a car that ran that low pressure. Is that normal? I run 30 all around on my other Runners with good tire wear, but they see a lot of loaded running. And the Yoko Geolander A/T's are more of a road tire than anything I've ever run on a truck, so they may be more sensitive to air pressures than more heavily constructed tires.

All depends on tire size, vehicle weight and temperture.
If the doorjamb says you should (ex) use 26 F and 33 R and your running 31" tires and it came with 235's stock then its worthless to go with those numbers.
As a rule I always followed: Take the max pressure and subtract about 5-10lbs, then using a piece of chalk draw a line across the tire. Then drive about 50 feet and get out and see if the chalk rubbed off evenly.
If it didnt and the inside edges wore off its over inflated, the exact opposite of that the outside edges wear and its underinflated.
People say to do all sorts of crazy things regarding this, some run such low pressures I wonder if they even have any idea what they are doing, even if they think they do. I have a 96 V6 T100 x-cab 4x4, the doorjamb says 29/33 and that wont cut it at all as I dont have 235 tires. My tires are 31x10.5x15 and say they can stand a maxpressure of 50 PSI, since I bought it used one of the first things I did was check the tires and voila set to the doorjamb-no wonder the ride was super soft!
Anyway i didnt even do the chalk test at first, I went to 44psi in the rear all tires and 42 up front and voila they were almost are dead on. Like I said subtract about 5-10lbs, I later did the chalk test and dropped 2 psi..but my system works.
