After searching with no luck. Has anyone put an aftermarket water temp gauge in a 22RE? I have an Equus 8242 mechanical and need to find an adapter to put it in.
I assume you are replacing the existing gauge sender. Did you measure the threads? Equus sells adapter kits, http://equus.com/Product/8242 but I don't know which one you need.
Thanks for the info. After posting this I went back to Equus' website and now have a part number for an adapter to install this. The 8242 is mechanical. Sorry, should have checked before posting.

Which is ...? If you went to all the trouble to get the right part number, feel free to post it. Somebody could find this thread by searching, and then you'd be a big contributor.

Sounds good Scope, that was my plan. I was waiting because these things don't always work out! Equus part number is 9852.
Use this link, click on the accessories tab, about the 25th item down, also comes in an Asian kit. I get the adapter tomorrow and weather permitting I will install it. Well, I will at least see if it fits.
If I'm correct this will fit in the factory gauge sender position or the FPU switch location, where I'm installing it. I was thinking of making a video showing how my manual switch works for the FPU and the gauge install.
Installed the gauge today. I was thinking of putting it in the FPU switch location but it is after the thermostat, so instead I installed the adapter and probe in the sender location. The gauge is an Equus 8242 mechanical temp gauge ($33), the adapter is an Equus part number 9852 ($6.49). It was a little hard to get the adapter and the probe started as its hard to reach in there. I put the sender in the FPU switch location for a "back up". I like it so far. I'm going to try and add some pictures and brief explanations.
First the FPU switch location.
Where I installed the gauge. Oh yeah had to buy a mount ($21 Autometer brand) it did not come with the gauge.
Also above the gauge is my toggle switch to manually operate the FPU.
I drove about 350 miles this weekend and noted some interesting things. The factory gauge is working better, but with no number reference it get pretty high up, at or near the red mark. With the mech. gauge I know that near the red mark on the factory gauge is a about 210 F on the mech. gauge. About 3/4 of the way up is 190 F. With the sender in the FPU location it's good for troubleshooting as you can watch the thermostat open. I saw the mech. gauge climb up to almost 200 F with the factory gauge up a little, then the thermostat would open and the factory gauge would climb to 3/4 and the mechanical would go down to 190 F.
