Advice on q 93 pickup tranny, hwat should I do?

I recently replaced the clutch on my pickup "93 4WD 22RE". A week or so after completion I was driving home from work and the truck began to vibrate like crazy, needless to say I didn't tighten the drive shaft bolts down hard enough. The drive shaft came loose and I ended up replacing it. Once I had this done I took the truck out for a drive and now it's a bear to shift. It has a W-56 5speed manual. I have to force it to go into to 1st and I can't get in into reverse without throwing the transfer case into Neutral. Once it gets going, moving through the gears is very difficult. My question is, did I mess the tranny up when I continued to drive as the drive shaft was coming loose? I had no choice. I had to get home, as I had no way of a tow, nor could I have gotten a ride at the time. So is it ruined, do I need to simply adjust and re bleed the clutch, if it is screwed, I found a used one at the salvage yard for $400 or should I get a rebuild kit? I've never rebuilt a tranny, how difficult is it? Thank you for any advice or suggestion.

Go cheap first.
1. Clutch disengaging all the way?
2. Look at your shifter socket seat, replace with a Marlin Crawler, well worth it anyway!
3. Got gear oil, if so the right stuff? GL4/5 works, but some redline MT90 GL4 is better.
