95 4runner won't start

I was doing some work on my runner and I took the alternator off the 4runner but I forgot to understand hook the battery it asked they I understand hooked the battery. But when I hooked it all back together I got head lights but windows don't work and it won't turn over and dash is dead . Does anyone one have an idea of what fuses or relays to start with first ?

A problem well-stated is a problem almost solved. What engine matters a lot to those wanting to help.

It's a 3,0 v6 Ina 1995 4Runner it manual trans 4x4 . I've done some looking around under and I'm going to check the fuses under the hood . The 100 amp and 60 amps fuses and does the 95 have fuse link wire . The type with the white wire ? Other then that maybe the start relay ?

The headlamps are downstream of the fusible link, so it shouldn't be that.

But everything else is downstream of the 80, 40 and 30 amp fuse. Remember that these are BOLTED in; you can't just pull on them to get them out.

While your original post is gibberish, it sounds like you may have shorted something to ground. If you're lucky, a fuse blew. Or, you could have wrecked all sorts of other stuff.

Your life will be so much easier with a multimeter; you can work forward and back to find where you have 12v, and where you don't

Thanks. I suggest you put truck info on your signature. Would help everybody in the future.

Absolutely. Next to our senses, it is the most important troubleshooting tool.
P.O. Let's start with this ^^^.

"B" wire is most likely to short to ground while working on alternator because it has a bare terminal. It will take out the 80-Amp fuse (in red). "S" wire could also do and blow the 40-amp fuse (in orange) but that's less likely because "S" wire is within a connector. I do not know physical layout of the 1990-1995, so you need to find out where your fuses are. Check for 12V on both sides of 80-amp and 40-amp fuses / FL.

With 80-amp fuse out, you will still have headlight, but now tail light / dash lights, and no power to ignition switch so no accessories, no ignition, no crank.

One more thing: Please type your sentences clearly. We need your help in understanding what you have right in front of you.
