94 runner w/acceleration difficulty
I recently purchased a 94 runner 3.0 V6 which accelerates on takeoff very poorly. I have heard of this engine to be sluggish, but to the point of taking 60 seconds to reach 30MPH? I think I may have an air/fuel mixture issue. If this is the case, how do I attempt diagnosing and repairing this issue considering the fact that it is not giving me any trouble codes?
Repairs and test performed so far with no improved results are as follows:
O2 sensor & TPS sensor replaced, cat converter removed and inspected with no signs of any restrictions; rotor, cap and plugs replaced, fuel filter replaced, throttle body inspected and cleaned, MAF sensor tested good.
What am I lacking? I figured all that would be enough to fix the problem. Any ideas of other repairs I can try before resorting to a mechanic or the dealership for help?

Automatic or standard?
What size tires and what diff gear ratios do you have?
Timing good? Are you sure you do not have any leaks in the intake?
It should most defantly not take 60 seconds to make it up to 30mph.

Auto transmission, all stock. No intake leaks, timing according to specs should be 10' BTDC. I have the rotor turned as far as it will go and it is currently at 0 with an idle of 800 rpm.

Do you have the diagnostic box jumped when trying to set the timing?
Look on the sticker under the hood, it says to jump two circuits to set the timing correctly. Also what kind of timing light are you using? Does it have a dial on the back of it?

it sounds like your timing is not properly adjusted.
in the diagnostic plug, you would need to connect the TE1 and E1 terminals (according to the diagram on the underside of the lid covering the connectors), in order to set the timing properly. If you jumper those connectors the idle should significantly change, if it doesn't the TPS may need adjusted.
you should be using an inductive timing light- one that has a positive and negative connection to the the battery, then a clamp that goes around the #1 spark plug wire.

I used the jumper and an inductive timing light exactly as you suggested and the timing still reads 0. The idle did not change at all when I installed the jumper on TE1 and E1 which tells me my newly installed TPS is not adjusted correctly. How do I know when the TPS is adjusted correctly?

I've heard blocking your egr valve is immensely helpful and ca cure a lot of these sicknesses. I'm doing mine tomorrow... Oh. Also try changing your pcv valve. I've heard it's a b*%#~ but I'm getting frustrated too.

first with the jumper wire in place turn key to on and watch for flashing check engine light if it flashes every 3 seconds there are no codes or it will flash the number of a code if it is a 41 or 51 code throttle position sensor is bad or out of adjustment.

I had the same problem. Spent tons of money at a car shop and couldnt figure out what was wrong... Changed my transmission to manual and had no problems since. Check the trans.. torque converter might be slipping or something. And if you decide to rebuild the trans.... just get a new one. Unless you really trust you trans guy.... I did but he failed miserably....so I did the trans swap.....v good luck
