94 2wd cab to 87 4runner frame swap
I rolled the 4runner so its either scrap it or try swapping this cab on the chassis
First from the research I've found the concensus seems to be:
-The first two rows of mounts under the cab are the same possibly the 3rd
-The bed mounts will be different so either I'll have to make a flat bed or fab up the mounts
-Gas tank is lower on a 4runner frame so it shouldn't be an issue
-other than those issues it doesn't seem too bad
The 4runner's body got tweaked too bad to try to fix but the only thing on the chassis that got hurt was the pitman arm broke. After I get the body separated I will inspect to make sure there's not more damage.
As for the donor truck, it's a 94 2wd with a 22re/5sp that we picked up for cheap and planned to drive. The frames pretty rough but the cab and bed are in good shape. Rather than drive this we might as well get some use out of the good 4runner chassis.
I think this swap shouldn't be too bad I know I'll have to use the electronics and sensors from the 94, and change small things like the speedo cable(cable to electronic). Any big issues I haven't stumbled on yet? Obviously a 4runner cab would be the ideal thing to swap but there about impossible to find in the midwest. I've got the whole 2wd to pull parts off of and a lot of other 4wd parts so other than running brake lines I really don't know of anything I would need.
