93 fourrunner engine help

Hi, I need some engine advise for my 93 Fourrunner. It has 231,000 miles on it. In the past month or so it started running rough in drive, not so much in park. I changed the cap, rotor, and spark plugs (they were in bad shape) and the air intake tube it was cracked. It seems just a little better but still has that shake to it. Any ideas what I can try next?? Thanks. Lisa

Air intake tube is cracked....did you replace it? If not, do that. Its letting unmetered air into the intake.

Yes that was the first thing I tried. Put a new one on. I havent replaced the wires yet, they want 100 bucks for factory ones. I hear the aftermarket ones are dificult to put on.

I replaced the head gasket over a year ago. But before that went it ran great, so I dont think that would be a symptom for the head gasket going again.

If you've never replaced the O2 sensor, it's past due.

Also, you can get the O2 sensor & NGK spark plug wires (very good) at www.sparkplugs.com

Possible, but not always..

Its good practice to change it every so many thousand miles. (not sure how many)
I got a denso one from napa. I cant remember exactly but i think it was near $80

Like I said, if you've never changed the O2 sensor, it will improve the performance & economy with that many miles on the engine.

I have put about 70,000 mile on it since I purchased it. It has a V6 in it and I have only had to change to oil and head gasket since I bought it.
It has been very good to me. I want to try and fix it so she lasts a while....
