Hi, I rebuilt my 22RE new rings and bearings. It was running fine when I shut it off last time before pulling the engine. I got the engine installed yesterday and completed the ancillary stuff today.


I just tried to fire it up and it attempts to start and then sounds like a tractor huffing along slowly with the starter turning it, release the starter and it huffs along and dies Wont fire up .
I haven't done a compression check yet, but that looks like what I will do next.


I jumpered TE1 and E1 and the check engine light flashes constantly which I interpret to mean everything is normal. No codes.


I have pressure on the fuel rail because it spewed gas when the fuel line banjo bolt is loosened some.


The last time I overhauled this engine it fired up right away after installation. But that was 12 years ago.

 

Ok got it running. I was one tooth off on the distributer install. And I had a bad #4 spark plug. Starts up excellent and seems to run excellent now. I will have to get it out on the road to see for sure. Got to get the timing set first.

 

Timing set , runs good , lots of valve noise --- will have to re-adjust the valves here shortly, but it seems to run strong.
