92 TOY's 22re / crapped out / gotta start somewhere / thread

That sucks about the marlin tranny. I had it put in at around 220K in 05, so that means it failed after three years. That's not a good testament to marlin's quality. Are you sure the head gasket is leaking and the timing chain hasn't worn a hole in the cover like 92Toy's thread here?

Last night XXXTREME22R decided to give his newly rebuilt engine a good trial and drove out to my house.....about 20 or so miles away...the bulk of the ride would have ben made up of 45 to 55mph driving but the last few miles to my house is a steady uphill ride including about a 2 mile twisty turny uphill trek....I told hm if he makes it up that his engine is pretty OK. He made it no problem...as far as I know and as far as I can tell, he made it home too.
Got to show off my mess and my son enjoyed showing off his truck too.
Ya did a fine job on the engine too, so, as promised, I'm going to post up the pics I took of your engine.
Gotta definitely put that Hannah Montana digital camera on your wish list LOL!!

Thanks man, yeah made it home but still got to deal with that temperature thing. its all over the place on the gauge. New alternator and battery cables did the trick as far as I can tell with the alt light that kept coming on intermittently which was a PITA too. Had to situate my hand on the steering whell so that when and if it came on it didnt blind me from seeing all those deer on the side of the road. haha. Still got some touching up to do on some of the bracket, air cleaner and maybe fix up some of that chipped paint on the header and injection pipes.
Oh and by the way, I did pick up 2 of those icarly cameras, they are crap, aiming for taking pics is a PITA it never lines up. only has a view finder and not a screen, and has no flash as well. wont even take pics inside the house with a room light on. They going right back to Toys-r-us. LOL

If you didn't notice I had my triple gauge sitting on the open glove box hooked up for the oil pressure. only temporary till i get everything situated to run the wires for real through the firewall. I havent hooked up the water temp or volt meter as of yet.

Long time, no posts here. Any progress?
I mentioned this before, but this thread is huge. I took a picture of the timing cover diagram in my manual, resized it, printed it out, taped it to carboard, and poked the bolts through. If you want a copy, save and print. http://i859.photobucket.com/albums/a..._corrected.jpg
I used one for the timing cover bolts and another for the water/oil pump stuff.

???
If you are asking where the decals came from , the answer is mostly EBAY....with the exceptions being the YOTATECH decal from James Dean Creations (not sure where the thread is for him, but it's on here somewhere, just have to click around) and the YODA sticker, I stole from my kids. The 22re is an engine decal.

I've seen them other places but EBAY has the most....I think I lucked out and won it for less than the "buy it now" option, but for the most part I think it's like $6.

found it on ebay.. thanks
also thanks for the jamesdeancreations link.. some days ago I got some chrome embossed letters from http://www.miladisplays.com/PremiumChromes.htm .. damn they turned out to be some really fine stuff. I got the series CHR01A. These guys don't sell less than 250 units so u gotta come up with a story that you will need 2,000 or so and need some samples
that's what I did

Marlin crawler sells the OEM Valve cover stickers for $3 a piece. plus shipping. 2 stickers comes to $8 with USPS regular shipping. Can't check with 1 sticker it freaks out about shipping weight lmao
I got to get one for mine now after painting it. But gonna wait till i order my shifter bushing set from them. http://www.marlincrawler.com/accessories/stickers-logos
