92 extended cab - things to look for?

Hey there y'all -

first time posting on here. taking a look at this 1992 extended cab later this week:
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/...029805271.html

single owner, rebuilt "top end" around 100k miles. he say's it's in perfect condition minus a torn seat. basically I'm wondering what I should watch out for when I go see it/test drive it? I'm by no means a "car/truck guy" but I know enough to get by. I've been looking for a 22re for a while now, and this one seems like it's in great condition and fair price for it's mileage.

would love any thoughts/feedback/advice. also if anyone knows a good 22re mechanic in Los Angeles that I could take it by.

thanks!

Nice lookin' vehicle, but seems a little steep for a 2wd. Kelly Blue Book, for what it's worth, calls a '92 Deluxe pickup in "good" condition around $1,500 to $2,700. KBB doesn't do too well for vehicles this old, so YMMV. Plus, as an owner (not buyer) I'm all for people paying a lot for these trucks.

I don't own a 22re, so I will leave it to those with much greater knowledge than mine to suggest what to look for. I can tell you that you will almost certainly be glad you bought it, whatever the price.

22RE no speed demon...

I have 91 Ext-Cab 4wd with 22RE and 130kmiles. Rusted to crap, but otherwise running well. I'm in a salty-road rust-belt area in Alberta Canada. Top end rebuilt? 22RE had its headgasket troubles, so watch for further headgasket troubles, such as oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Coolant in the oil makes the oil look kinda foamy/milky. Has any front-end work been done? Upper lower ball joints, tie-rod ends, etc? If not it will be soon.
The 22RE is not going to light the world afire with speed. Prepare to be a grandpa on the freeway, tooling along at only 70mph. It will go faster, but sustained operation above 2500 rpm will shorten its life.

Hopefully he also did the timing chain & guides. My driver's side guide was broke when I bought my 22RE truck at 120K miles
