92 4runner rear axle to 1997 4runner?
I have the opportunity to buy a 97 4runner for cheap. has been wrecked and needs driver side wheels and rear end... pretty sure the frame is all ok.... will the axle from my 92 runner swap under the 97?... Or am I better off taking the 3.4 out and swapping into my 92 that has 240k?.....
If the axles will swap I am in GREAT shape!!!!... also the front diff....same?.... i heard they are land cruiser at that point????... I know the trans shifts into gear appropriately, the t case engages and the wheels turn... but the rear axle is cracked (housing)
I hope it will!!!

The differential will swap over but the axle housing will not.
Front diff is not the same, completely different. And no, the 3rd gem 4runner is nothing like a landcruiser.
Sounds like you should just put the 3.4 into your 92 if you're capable of doing that swap.

Yeah... I love my 92.... 240k. I would like to do the 3.4 swap, of course, and this should be the first consideration. But with the thought of being able to maybe just swap axles it would have been so easy. But this would still be a hell of a bargain for the motor, trans, ecu, harness, fuse blocks.... now that I start thinking about it it makes since...... hmmm.... I think I should...... check this out
