92 4Runner back window/tailgate
It's crap and we know it. This is the second one I've had where the back window refuses to move, rendering the tailgate useless (and pretty much the purpose of owning it, right?)
Question is, where does a person begin to look for a replacement? I live in northern Minnesota in a town nicknamed "The End of the Road" for good reason. Do I need to make friends with a body guy so he can put the word out? I really like this vehicle and would like to keep it, but I need the rear tailgate to work!

make friends with an electrical guy. I managed to make mine work. But theres a lot of possibilities to where and why it would not work. Honestly, the only way to remove it would be to cut the "cargo" area cab off of the truck, and reweld a pick up window to just behind the rear seats. and then make a manual tailgate.

My husband's pretty good at electrical work. We had the whole tailgate apart a while ago and replaced the motor for the window. That worked for about a day and a half, then it went too.
These poor Minnesota Toyotas. Not much can save them from the salt.

seen alot of eletrical issues with these from trailer wiring installes. check all wires where they go from the body to the door, peel tape off of loom and pull on each wire with a bit of force, the point is to see it there is corrosion in wires, by pulling on the wire if its corroded the insulation will break showing you where it broke, otherwise the copper wire inside will hold and wire wont break

If you go to my build thread and on my #186 post, I have how I got mine fixed, and posted several links on rear window problems. It will be on my 6th or 7th page.
Some quick checks is to make sure your rear wiper is all the way up, rear door is firmly closed. May even need to lean against it. The next easiest step would be to make sure there switch isnt full of coffee, pop or other things.
