I have a91 pickup 5 speed and I'm looking to do a Chevy axle and spring swap what would be the best parts to go with so I can keep the factory 22re and 5 speed trans and maybe keep the tcase. What's the best setup for street and Offroad use. Need help with a parts list or something I have never done this big of a project so any feed back would be great thanks

Not trying to sound like an ass but you really need to check out the faqs here and on pirate. You concerns really shows you stand to get yourself in trouble modifying your rig without the base knowledge. Had a buddy with 63"s was an awesome set up with loads of flex. But you really need to understand axle position as you can move it. And pinion angle for style of driveshaft and t-case configuration (single, dual, triple). You can also play a little with departure angles. Post pics of build though it's too cold to weld and my garage is unheated so at least I can web build

 

Why the axle and springs?

Chevy axle is wider, and wider axles are usually used when going long travel to match the track width of the front.

why don't you just do springs?

Take your time and plan build is my advice. Regearing gets expensive. Should be easy enough as you can buy most parts of the shelf.

You thinking Dana 44 or Dana 60?? Personally I'd go 60 as a built yota axle is every bit as strong as a 60, well excluding 35 spline and kingpins. Down side is you'll need bigger tires to get the ground clearance. But more gearing options. Think advance adapters and Sky make a pinion flange to bolt a 60 to yota driveline. Think ruff stuff and sky both have swap kits or you can piece together brackets. Would be fun.

 

You want to SAS your truck, as well as swap out the rear axle? You will likely also do the following:

1) Re-gear those axles with lower gears to turn bigger tires
2) Put a least one locker in the rear for better off road traction, maybe locker in the front as well
3) Get bigger badder tires 'cuz 31's on a SAS looks silly
4) Maybe add a second transfer case because your stock 2.28 case is not low enough
5) Convert to a high steer setup so you can turn the front wheels of the truck with the steering wheel

since you're doing this ^^^ , you might also

5) Add a winch
6) Add bumpers
7) Add other armor like sliders and underbody armor

I recommend you do a bunch more research. It's a little more involved than just bolting a Chevy axle on the Toyota...

Are you planning to narrow your Chevy front axle and keep your Toyota rear axle or go with a Chevy axle and suspension in the rear .

Because of the wider width do you plan to move the spring perches on the axles or modify your frame ??

I wonder how far out of alignment the drive shafts will end up not being close to a Chevy truck for years.
