90 and newer mileage
I'm looking at a couple of '92 pickups both 22re manual and the owners are both saying they get over 23 mpg. I had an '87 22re 5 speed I just sold and it could get 20 on a good day do any of you guys get 23 plus or are these sellers just full of it?

absolutely
i got something like 24.7 on my last long highway trip. 30" tires, 22re 5 spd, and 4x4 ext. cab, at that, and to top it all off, i had a shell on it, and my bed filled to the top of the shell with firewood. i'm sure it would have been somewhere around 28 without all that crap. and this was going up the grapevine
the city driving really brings the average down though, as i have been learning lately. you can get 18-19 in the city if you only use about 25-30% throttle max at all times (or something like that - just be more aware of how far down you're pushing the gas pedal). with a lead foot, i've learned i can easily get as bad as 14-15 mpg in city driving

There are a bunch of other MPG threads here with many more details of what people are getting. Check them out.
I'm getting 24-25 on every tank in my bone stock '94 22RE 5spd 4x4 Xtra Cab with 225/75/15 tires.
