90 4-runner vacuum issue

I recently changed the knock sensor and pig tail on my rig. I also put a new timing set on the front of the motor. After getting it back together it keeps throwing a egr code. I checked the egr valve it works fine. I checked vacuum at the egr, egr module, and throttle body and have very little to none. The throttle body ports are clean. It doesn't matter if its at idle or higher rpm. Motor idles fine only thing I notice is that it seems down on power. Looking for any ideas. Thanks

Vacuum appears on the various ports on the throttle body at various throttle openings; not just idle and "higher" rpm. You need to test at the correct throttle opening. http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...sion/egrsy.pdf

If, in fact, you have very little vacuum, the EGR won't open and you'll get a code.

My guess is that you have the vacuum lines mis-routed. Check them first.

Which EGR CEL code?

The low power would be caused by the EGR valve being stuck or held open, This can happen if you have the 2 vacuum lines connected to the GREEN VSV reverse or the VSV is stuck open causing the ERG valve to be held open.

Ya I have switch those two lines back and forth. I have used diagrams and double checked it with my brothers four runner all the lines are right. It doesn't seem like I have vacuum th either side of the vsv valve. Should I have it to at least one side?

You might want to look at the manual; I gave you a link to the correct page.

The VSV is just a valve; reversing the lines to it makes no difference. If the VSV is stuck open the EGR valve is held closed, so that wouldn't affect power (it would affect air pollution).

The manual gives an entire spreadsheet from which you can tell "when" there is vacuum to the VSV. Having the VSV stuck closed (as in; it's not connected to electrical) should throw code 71 (eventually). But there is a reason why the EGR system is discussed in the manual; it's not difficult to understand, but the four pages are well-spent.
