89 Toyota Pickup

Hi, I'm new to forums. I'm looking at buying an 89 Toyota Pickup for $2000. He says
"22re with a new head, a new cam, a new timing chain, new tie rod ends and new ball joints. It also has tires that were just bought around 5 or 6000 miles on them. The axles have 5.29 gears and theres an arb air locker in the rear. Two weeks after i did the motor work i wrecked it, so it needs front end parts but still has a clean title."
I don't know, is this a good deal?

Thank you for your input,
Cameron

2wd or 4wd? How many miles on it? No matter what, it seems like a lot for a truck that's just been wrecked. Find out exactly what needs to be repaired on it. If you can't do the work yourself, you should definitely walk away.

BUY!!! Cant go wrong. These trucks are all getting harder to find in good shape. If its all about parts needing to be replaced then who cares. Least its straight. $2000 aint that much.

And what do you mean "89 taco"? Theres no such thing.

You could say your 1970 Honda Element
Or 1912 nissan frontier (which doesnt even deserve capitol letters)

Another question, I have a 79 F150 with 33x12.5x15 tires, the 89 Yota has the same tires. I want to switch wheels. Do I need to get adapters with spacing, to eliminate the tires rubbing?

depends entirely on what size backspacing the wheels have. on the yota, you will need 3.75" or less backspacing to have a 12.5 wide/15" wheel tire not rub on the upper control arms. if the wheels are deeper, i suppose wheel spacers could technically work.

as for buying the truck - i think it really depends on how much damage was done when it was wrecked. as for clean title...i can go out and roll my truck and it will still have a clean title until an insurance company gets involved on the plus side, if it truly has a fresh engine and ARB w/5.29s, new tires, etc - just in parts you're looking at well over $2k, so could be worth it...

In the pics I sent a couple messages ago, it shows the damage. How would I check for the other things the ad says it has?

Nobody but you can see the pictures. You'll need to post them on a Photobucket or Flickr account.
