So I have had my 4 runner since august. Its a 3vze with a manual. I bought the truck knowing it had a knock sensor issue. I replaced the knock sensor along with all the wires.every once in a while I will get a knock sensor code.but my main problem now is that it surges, doesn't want to rev up and almost dies only mid temp. If you drive it cold it runs good. After the high idle comes down, lurching and runs bogs. Once up to temp it runs great again.it does seem to not have power and not as smooth as it should be. It gets about 17mpg mixed driving.
So new plugs, wires, cap, rotor,tps good and AFM good. has any one had these symptoms? Advice or something to look at. I kinda have an idea its the distributor but I haven't checked it. All the vac lines look to be right. No leakes.I also think that it could be the the temp sensors are crossed on the back of the engine. Or could it be the thermostat because I noticed that the heater isn't as hot as the rear heater? I'm kinda at my Whits end with this. I've been working on it every weekend since I've gotten it. Thanks.
