88 pickup feels like its going to stall when idling
Well whenever I am driving the truck it is fine, but when I am stopped at a red light it shakes and feels like its going to stall out but it never has yet. What could be causing this?? My truck is an 88 pickup automatic trans with fuel injectors.
Also another question I had is my truck smells like it is either burning oil or transimission fluid after driving a while, what could be causing this smell?

For the burning oil smell, find out where the smell is coming from. You could have small leak onto the exhaust amnifold, or even a small leak from your transmission undeneath onto the exhaust pipe.
there are many reasons the truck could be idling low. First check your intake pipe, and all of your vacuum lines. Look for any cracked, or hardened lines. Don't forget to check the PCV hoses too. If any lins after your AFM are leaking air, your truck won't run right. After that, grab a timing light, short the check connector, and check your motor's timing. I believe stock timing is around 7*. If it's below that, loosten the distributor, and rotate it slightly. If your timing is fine, then start checking your fuel system.
My guess is timing though. The distributor comes loose sometimes, and shifts. Advancing the timing a few degrees will really bring up your idle speed.

After I put in my '94 engine my truck wanted to stall at stop lights. I had to keep my foot on the gas slightly to keep it running. The idle was set too low.
