I could well be wrong, but I think that goes between the pump, and where the "sock" attaches to it. IOW: in between the sock's arm, which goes to the intake port of the pump, and the pumps intake port.

But I may well be wrong on that. Was there something similar on the old one when you took it off? Anywhere?

Good fortune to ya!

Pat....
I am picking up a new sock tomorrow morning and I thought that might hold the answer also, but I just don't see it needing that to be installed for any reason. The whole set up is submerged in fuel and that would not make sense in my mind, but we shall see I guess....the old one was pretty rotten and everything rubber was like touching bubble gum so there really wasn't anything visual to go off of....This rig was bought 10+ years ago and I have just now got around to restoring it so it's no surprise it was rotten....I have put more than a few of these pumps in over the years and I don't recall said o-ring....I appreciate the response;-)

OK, sorry about that. I have no other ideas, I fear. Anything in the instructions about it? Or you haven't gotten it all yet, so you don't have any?

My thought was that you don't want "dirty" fuel to go into the pump, so after the sock, you want a good seal on it so dirty fuel can't bypass the sock, and get into the pump.

Having said that, visually, it looks like it fits onto that tube coming out the top of the pump, right by the plug. Could it go either under the rubber tube that goes onto the tube on top of the pump, or between the rubber tube and what it connects to?
Again, this is a WAG, so take it with a grain of salt. There's only so many places it can be put, after all No, you may NOT tell me where you think I should stick it, though

Well, at least now we know where that o-ring goes, if it goes at all.

I wish you the best of luck!
