88 4Runner Window Weatherstripping for Vent Windows Question

I've searched... for days... Forgive me if I missed a thread here that's already covered this, but I couldn't find it.

I need new weatherstripping/felts for the front windows on my 88 4Runner. I've got the vent windows. Mine are so stiff/dried out that it's hard to roll the windows up or down, and the glass has gotten very, very scratched.

I've found the part number for the outside strip: Toyota 68160-89116.
Here's one I've found on ebay, for photo reference: https://www.ebay.com/itm/84-89-TOYOT...3e86%7Ciid%3A1

I can NOT find a part number for the strip that goes inside the window. I'm wondering if it's considered a part of the door card and was never sold as its own part.

However, I HAVE found complete kits for the outside AND inside strips for the doors without vent windows.
This specific listing I found on ebay lists the kit as containing:
2 x Inner RH / LH Part # : 68160-89115
2 x Outer RH / LH Part # : 68170-89110
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Weatherstrip-Door-Belt-Rubber-Seal-for-Toyota-Hilux-4Runner-Pickup-LN50-56-55/281265894630?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.S EED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D51376%26meid%3D24de392d8c0a40 c18430017d678ea174%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3 D15%26sd%3D281638886483%26itm%3D281265894630&_trks id=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aad3ca a01-41b5-11e8-9424-74dbd1809f24%7Cparentrq%3Ad02b41aa1620aadccbf147e9 fff43e86%7Ciid%3A1

Has anyone tried buying the longer strips for the non-vent windows and cutting them short to fit the door with vent windows? It seems like the mounting holes on the outside of the door would be the same for sure. I'm not so sure about the inside mounting.

Better yet, does anyone have a part number and source for the inside weatherstripping for a vent window?

While searching, try coating it with silicone dielectric grease (Permatex, etc). My window seals were not stiff but dull. Dielectric grease brought back the freshness of the rubber. May help with yours. If not make it soft, at least it will make the sliding surfaces more slippery.

Thanks. I'd seen that mentioned in a couple other threads, but doesn't that mean you get grease smeared all over the windows when you roll them up? Or does the rubber/felt absorb it?

Don't put too much. Yes, silicone grease will smear like other greases, but wipes off clean and leaves the surface slippery and stuff are not likely to stick to wiped surface. Kinda like what Rain-X does to glass.
Worth a try. Comes in a small tube. What you don't use will come in handy for cleaning and protecting battery, spark plugs connections, etc.

Well, I took the driver's side strips off, and the silicone helped, but then the plastic tabs that hold the outside strip broke when I went to reinstall. Figures!

Looking closer at how it all goes together, it looks like the clips that hold the strips onto the door can slide along the strip, so I'm 95% sure buying the longer strips for the non-vent windows will work. Just trim and adjust the clips if needed (but I feel like it won't be needed even.)

Time to order and wait 4 weeks for them to come from Thailand.

For the record, yes, the longer strips work fine. I just cut them to length with a hack saw and moved the clips around as needed. The inner strips use clips that are built into the door cards, so you just throw away the clips that come on the stripping.

It feels so great having new-car weather stripping on the windows! No more stripping out window cranks and scratching the glass when I roll them up and down.

Hey, Ocell.
Couple questions for you.
I'm looking into replacing my door belt and glass channel run on my pickup. I ran across the same overseas ebay seller as you did.
Was this seller easy to work with? Did you end up paying any extra import fees? And how long did they take to get to your door?

Thanks.
